Left Luke in charge of the house and got to the airport in plenty of time, met Emily, Franklin and Charlie; and Harley, Amanda, Elliott and Felicity for a coffee. Pam is a little nervous but has drugs to calm the nerves. Maureen had a little (could have been huge) problem when it was discovered her booking paperwork had misspelt her name (had left the “E” off the end of Osborne). After many phone calls, Facebook contact and personal pleas (more like begging) with staff at the airport we finally got to go through security….phew. Through security, Maureen had left her camera in her bag so she was held up while they searched her gear and put it through security screening again…..phew.
To customs, Denise left her passport in the screening machine and was directed by Border Force to retrieve it post haste.
Like browns cows we finally got through and, found a seat, bought a beer and apportioned blame for all the holdups. No clear decision was made, we decided to put it behind us, enjoy the next couple of hours before departure. Looks like it’s going to be a long trip?
Easy flight to Singapore, had a couple of hours to spend then back on for the 13 hour trek to Copenhagen. I slept for about 9 hours, the girls had a decent sleep too, in any event we were all pretty exhausted when we arrived at Copenhagen. Maureen again caused the usual drama, she was told she would have to collect her luggage in Copenhagen, sort out her name dilemma then get her luggage back on the plane to Bergen. She went to the service centre, I went down to collect her luggage, then spent an hour getting back into the airport through the usual customs/security. Had a calming coffee, then headed for the bar seeing as it was now 11 o’clock. I know it’s a long story but I’ve been so traumatised by these dramas I’m keen to remind Maureen of her delinquency for the foreseeable future.
I slept all the way (1.5hrs) to Bergen, all our luggage arrived safely, we caught a taxi to the hotel (1200 Norwegian Kroner = $165 Australian dollars between the 5 of us); had showers, a drink, a little local seafood for tea and are in bed at 7.30 hoping to sleep till 6am!!
